Navy Air Facility El Centro is located in the Southwest of the United States, in the state of California, near the Mexican border. There are no flying units stationed at El Centro, but nevertheless it is one of the busiests U.S. air bases. The U.S. Navy and Marines, but also foreign units, make use of the realistic training opportunities in the vicinity of El Centro. There are extensive ranges where pilots can practice dropping bombs and fire their guns. At El Centro it is also possible to practise carrier landings. Combine that with good weather throughout the year, and you can see why this is a popular spot for Navy and Marines pilots. After their missions, the crews are debriefed at El Centro on their results. In addition, El Centro is the winter residence of the demonstration team of the U.S. Navy, the Blue Angels.
