Open House 2007 Geilenkirchen Air Base, Germany

Geilenkirchen Air Base is home of NATO’s early warning flying operations. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the E-3A component, an open house was organized on 16 and 17 June 2007. The E-3A is the aircraft the unit operates, which is well know for it’s large disc shaped radar on the fuselage.

During the open house there were no flying activities, but the static show consisted of some very interesting aircraft. Highlights included Turkish Air Force F-4’s, Greek A-7’s, a Polish Fitter and a B-52 from the United States Air Force. One of NATO E-3’s was painted in a special celebration scheme.

In one of the large hangars all NATO partners showed their nations traditions, like food, beverages and clothing. There were also dance demonstrations and musical performances.
